Navigating the Loss of a Spouse: Taking Steps Today to Prepare

Financial Planning Committee

Losing a spouse can be one of life’s most emotional and traumatic transitions. Whether by the progression of an unfortunate diagnosis or through an unexpected circumstance, the death of your partner can feel heartbreaking, confusing and lonely.

While one can never be fully prepared, there are proactive steps couples can take together to ease the burden on the surviving spouse when the time comes. This is the topic of discussion in the latest episode of “Navigating Life Transitions,” a podcast by JNBA Financial Advisors. Each episode of the podcast, hosted by Kim Insley, features a panel of specialists who bring different perspectives to life’s biggest challenges, changes and opportunities.

This 26-minute episode is unique in that the discussion is very personal, as Insley and guest Dr. George Logan share their own experiences losing their partners. Joining the discussion is Elise Huston, Director of Advisory Services – Senior Advisor at JNBA. From “the business of death” to life after loss, we’re reminded that the journey forward doesn’t have to be faced alone. “Navigating Life Transitions” is now in its second season and can be found on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
