Barron’s Recognizes CEO Richard Brown & JNBA as a Top 100 Independent Advisor in the Country

Cärin Viertel, Director of Client Services

For the eighth year in a row, Barron’s has named JNBA Financial Advisors’ CEO Richard S. Brown to its list of the Top 100 Independent Advisors. Ranking 51st in the country.

Our independence is such an important part of who we are, what we do, and the commitment we make to our clients every day. JNBA’s fiercely independent philosophy was what allowed our firm to break away from the pack over 40 years ago and help pioneer a client-centric approach and business model. It continues to drive every aspect of our work and culture today.

JNBA’s unwavering independence has also propelled our firm to receive numerous other local and national accolades in 2022. In March, Barron’s ranked Richard and JNBA the top financial advisor in Minnesota on the Top 1,200 Financial Advisor list. And in August, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal named JNBA to its Best Places to Work list, also for the second year in a row.

The Barron’s ranking reflects the quality of the advisors’ practices and compliance records, the volume of assets overseen by the advisors and their teams, and revenues generated for the firms.

Thank you to our entire team for your passion, commitment, and amazing work, and to our clients for putting your trust in us.

*As seen in the 8/24/15, 8/29/16, 9/18/17, 9/17/18, 9/16/19, 3/16/20, 9/14/20, 9/20/21, 3/15/21, and 9/19/22 issues of Barron’s. The Top 1200 is a collection of 51 individual rankings, with advisors in each state compared against peers in that state (as opposed to national comparisons). The number of ranking spots (24) for Minnesota corresponds to the state’s relative population and wealth. Each state is given no less than six award slots. Advisors who wish to be ranked fill out a 102-question survey about their practice. Barron’s then verifies that data with the advisors’ firms and with regulatory databases and then applies its rankings formula to the data to generate a ranking. Barron’s listings are based on data compiled by many of the nation’s most productive advisors, which is then submitted to and judged by Barron’s. As well as the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal 8/10/21 and 8/12/22 for Best Places to Work.
