Executive Corner

Kim Brown, President

While the last two years have brought a lot of change to our lives, not everything is that different. I still love a great conversation catching up over a cup a coffee in person. At the same time, I’ve learned to greatly appreciate the ease of connecting almost instantly with a colleague or our grandkids on a video call when physically getting together isn’t possible. I still love the energy of a brainstorm session on developing a gifting strategy for a client, for example, using a white board or big pads of paper listing out ideas. While nothing replaces a good Sharpie marker, I value how planning tools and technology can so quickly bring to life those ideas to help push us forward. And I still love walking through the halls of our offices seeing and hearing our team collaborate, feeling the energy of individuals who care so much. That energy is still there even when a few team members join the conversation via video working from their home office.

For me, the holiday season is a time of reflection, gratitude, and anticipation for good things to come. And this year I am reminded of the simple truth that we have all the power to continue to nurture and grow our relationships in different ways, no matter if we’re together in person or virtually. There is no question there have been changes, but I like to think we have evolved because, at our core, our shared values make us ready for whatever the future brings.

I am so grateful to work alongside such passionate and caring people. Also, I know I can speak for all of us at JNBA: We truly consider it a gift to be a part of your lives helping you plan your future, whether in person or via a video call. Thank you to our clients and professional colleagues for being flexible and motivated to try new ways to nurture our relationships that we value so greatly. I have no doubt there are more good things to come in the months and years ahead.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!
