Supporting the next generation of financial careers with TD Ameritrade

JNBA is proud to partner with TD Ameritrade and University of Minnesota Duluth's labovitz school of business and economics to empower the next generation of financial planners

Last week, JNBA’s Operations and Compliance Manager, Larry Becker, had the opportunity to visit New York City with the recipients of the 5th Annual TD Ameritrade Institutional Generation Next Scholarship and Grants program.

The NextGen Scholarship and Grants Program is designed to promote careers in financial planning and attract top young talent to the industry. The program includes twelve $5,000 scholarships to deserving students, plus two grants that are awarded to universities that demonstrate a commitment to educating the industry’s future financial professionals.

Larry’s role in the program included reviewing the scholarship applications, which were presented by students pursuing the Financial Planning, Financial Advisor, and Independent Registered Investment Advisor professions. “It was interesting reviewing the transcripts, resumes, and essays submitted by the students. There are some extremely bright young minds interested in our industry, and we have to do everything we can to grow this trend. The TD Ameritrade Generation Next program is a great contributor to the cause,” commented Larry.

While in New York, Larry attended a number of events with the winners and the TD Ameritrade Institutional team. He also participated on a panel with two other industry professionals. The panel focused on both millennial talent as well as next generation clients.

The event was topped off with a visit to Wall Street and the NASDAQ, where the scholarship recipients and university representatives were able to participate in the closing bell ceremony.
